Johntaye Carter - 2015 Winner
The Triangle Sertoma Club has created a scholarship fund to annually award an outstanding hearing impaired Durham Public Schools graduate who is planning to attend college.
ELIGIBILITY: A one-time scholarship will be awarded annually to a qualified hard-of-hearing student, currently or previously, receiving services through the Durham Public Schools Hard of Hearing Program.
APPLICATION PROCESS: Any student who has filled out an application for the Dr. Carl N. Patterson Memorial Fund scholarship award through the Durham Public Schools is automatically eligible for consideration for the Triangle Sertoma Club Scholarship Award.
Our June 4, 2015 installation banquet was highlighted with the presentation of the inaugural Triangle Sertoma Club Scholarship Award to Johntaye Carter. Johntaye, who attended the event with her mother Brenda, is a 2015 graduate of the Josephine D. Clement Early College High School, associated with the Durham Public School System.
She is enrolled at East Carolina University where she plans to pursue a degree in nursing. Johntaye, who has a significant hearing loss, maintained a weighted grade point average of 4.3 while in high school and was very active in her community and church. She was an excellent choice for our first ever scholarship award.
To assure the viability of this scholarship fund program, we need your generous support.
One hundred percent of your tax free donation will go to the annual scholarship fund.
Upon receipt of your donation, an acknowledgement letter and a receipt for your tax purposes will be mailed to you. Triangle sertoma Club is a (501) (c) (3) tax exempt organization, EIN 51-0230344. We greatly appreciate your support.
